Buttigieg, Chief Officer Supervision at MFSA, provided invaluable insights from a Maltese perspective, whose VFA Act in 2018 was the world’s first comprehensive crypto-specific regulation.
The conference featured multiple panel discussions throughout the day, encompassing diverse areas of interest. Eminent speakers included Verena Ross, Sarah Gramberg, a Crypto-Assets specialist at the European Banking Authority (EBA), Kevin C. Piccoli from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) with insights from the USA, leaders from regulatory bodies across Europe, and notable figures from crypto giants who have set up operations in Malta—such as Mariana Gospodinova from Crypto.com, Fiorentina D’Amore from Bitpanda, and Robert Rutherford, Vice President of Operations at FalconX.
